WESTWOOD—Top UCLA basketball recruit Shabazz Muhammad will not be with the team during a seven-day trip to China later this month.
While the investigation is ongoing, the NCAA will not grant Muhammad eligibility clearance to participate with the team.
The Bruins will set off on a good will tour of China on August 22. The team will face two Chinese collegiate teams from Beijing and Shanghai and a professional team before returning home on August 29.
During the trip, the Bruins will take in the sights as well as hold two "meet and greet" events with the public.
Muhammad has said that he has been in contact with the NCAA and expects to be cleared before the November 9 season opener.
