Spurs Win Thriller Against Warriors

SAN ANTONIO—On Monday, May 6, the San Antonio Spurs survived the Golden State Warriors to take the game one victory. The Spurs won 129-127 in a double overtime thriller that came down to the final shot of the game.

Tony Parker led the Spurs with 28 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Tim Duncan had 19 points and 11 rebounds. Kawhi Leonard had 18 points and nine rebounds. Danny Green had 22 points. The Spurs made 13 three-pointers and shot 50 percent from the three-point line, but none was more important than Manu Ginobili’s game winning three-pointer. Ginobili came off the bench to score 16 points, handed out 11 assists and grabbed seven rebounds.


The Warriors led a valiant effort and led throughout much of the game. Stephen Curry led Golden State with 44 points and 11 assists. He is thhe first player to score 40 points and 10 assists against the Spurs in the playoffs. Klay Thompson had 19 points, but fouled out late in the game. Harrison Barnes had 19 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to win the game.


The best of seven games series between these two teams will continue in San Antonio on Wednesday. The winner of this series will advance to the Western Conference Finals against the winner of the Memphis and Oklahoma series.
