The Celtics Win In New York

NEW YORK—On Wednesday, May 1, the Boston Celtics won game five at Madison Square Garden over the New York Knicks. The Celtics won 92-86 and the series is now at 3-2 with the Knicks still in the lead.

Jeff Green led the Celtics with 18 points, four rebounds and four assists. Brandon Bass had 17 points, Paul Pierce had 16 points and Jason Terry came off the bench to score 17 points for the Celtics. The biggest contributor on the night for the Celtics was Kevin Garnett with 16 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists and two blocks for Boston. The Celtics managed to shoot 50 percent from the three-point line compared to 23 percent for the Knicks.


Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 22 points and seven rebounds, but only made eight of his 24 shot attempts. Raymond Felton had another good game with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists. J.R. Smith had 14 points off the bench, but he only made three of his 14 shot attempts.


The series between the Celtics and the Knicks will continue back in Boston on Friday. It’s a win or go home situation for the Celtics and they came up big in game five. The winner of this series goes up against the winner of the Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers series.
