LONDON, ENG—Thursday, Team USA basketball advanced to the gold medal match after beating Argentina 109-83 in the semifinals of the Olympic Basketball Tournament. The two rivals met for the third time in a month, and for the third time the United States came out on top.

LeBron James, F.
The first half was thrilling. The U.S. got out to an early lead but the Argentines climbed back. After one quarter, the difference was only five points. A competitive second quarter would see the Americans take a 47-40 lead into the locker rooms at the half.

But once again, the United States pulled away in the second half.

A barrage of three pointers from Kevin Durant in the third quarter gave the U.S. a 17 point lead. In the fourth, it was Carmelo Anthony's turn from three, and the U.S. pulled away for the 26-point victory.

LeBron James followed up his historic triple-double with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists.

The United States will face Spain in the gold medal match on Saturday.

The highly-anticipated match-up will see the Americans against NBA stars like Marc and Pau Gasol, Jose Calderon, and Serge Ibaka.
