BEL AIR—The famous Hotel Bel-Air will be closed for renovations that will start in October 2009. This mean some brides must find other places to hold their weddings and receptions.
In a press release from the hotel, it is stated that the bedrooms and the public areas of the hotel will be modernized. In addition, they are adding 12 villas to the property. During the refurbishment, a new spa will be re-opened.
This renovation is a problem for brides who planned to be married in this exclusive hotel with its secluded gardens. The hotel is known for its privacy, making it an ideal place to be married.
Alexandra Rembac of Sterling Engagements stated to Canyon News that the Hotel Bel-Air had scheduled weddings and then announced the renovations. Brides with reservations are now being asked to relocate or lose their deposits, or 50 percent of what their total could be.
“In order to maintain the outstanding quality for which the Hotel Bel-Air has become known, from time to time it becomes necessary for our Hotel, like many others, to upgrade and enhance our property. We truly regret that this situation requires us to inconvenience some of our clients and guests. We highly value their support and loyalty and we are diligently working with all of our guests that have upcoming events scheduled at the hotel to try to make them happy with the outcome. We are presently working closely with all parties affected by offering relocation to our sister property The Beverly Hills Hotel, a luxury five star hotel featuring 12 acres of lush, tropical gardens and multiple options for weddings and events. For those who incur any additional expense as a result of the closure, we are evaluating their claims on an individual basis and as efficiently as possible. We are doing our very best to assist all parties to make sure their forthcoming events are successes," said a statement from hotel spokeswoman Alisha Mahon, which was e-mailed to Canyon News.
“We feel for those brides and want to assist them in anyway possible,” said Rembac.
Mahon stated that the renovations start on October 1 and be completed in a year and one-half to two years, or by 2011.
