Burglary Suspect Who Eluded Police At Large

BEL AIR—On Friday, August 5, the Bel-Air Association (BAA) related to members on its blog that a man discovered inside of an Ashdale Place home on August 2 remains at large after he eluded responding police officers and helicopters that sough him out in the area.

The suspect allegedly entered a home on the half-mile 200 block of Ashdale Place on the aforementioned date, at 11:40 p.m., "w/ intent to commit theft or a felony," a crime report states. He also allegedly intended to burglarize a number of vessels.

According to the BAA blog post, a housekeeper, who was locking up the house for the evening, saw the man hiding inside when she went to lock a door that had been left open for a pet dog to be able to come and go. At the time of the sighting, the homeowners were upstairs in their bedroom. Thereafter, the man left the home.

Two previous home burglaries were reported to police as occurring further north from this recent incident. One burglary happened on July 18 on the 1200 block of Roscomare Road. And the other burglary took place on July 6 on the 11200 block of Chalon Road, which is one block away from an attempted burglary reported on May 26.

"With the economy the way it is, things will not get better," the BAA blog post states. "It is important you get to know your neighbors and who belongs on your street."

"Be aware if someone's gardener looks different, if you see someone looking at houses, if you notice strange vehicles driving slowly past homes. Keep a pencil and paper handy to write down auto descriptions and license plates, just in case." the post states. "Anything that looks out of the ordinary."

Another tip suggested by the BAA to locals who want to protect their homes from burglars is to ask ACS Security personnel to conduct patrols on their street blocks. Residents with security cameras are advised to periodically check captured footage of their property.
