Bel Air News
BEL AIR—The home once owned by famous TV personality Merv Griffin hits the market with a price tag of almost $7 million.
The former television game show host, writer and producer’s four-bedroom property spans 2.5 acres (5,500 square feet) of the upper Bel Air area off Mulholland Drive and is “reminiscent of a Modern Aspen Ski Lodge,” according to its listing.
“This house has a very unique personality,” said Billy Rose, a listing agent with The Agency. “On the one hand it’s very rustic, character-filled. On the other hand you could interpret it as sort of a Balinese Modern Resort.”
The home at 3051 Antelo View Dr. has never been sold on the 'open-market,’ as owners instead have opted to trade the property quietly.
A gated drive leads up through thickets of trees. Vaulted ceilings allow for windowed walls and glass doors to provide natural light during the day and an unobstructed view of the grounds at night. His and hers master baths, a tennis court and an infinity pool are just some of the amenities listed.
The community itself has a vacation vibe, according to Rose. “The home-away-from-home aspect of this neighborhood must be one of the primary reasons that this little enclave has been home to so many top stars and celebrities.” In addition to the "Jeopardy" creator, former residents include former basketball star Wilt Chamberlain, actress Farrah Fawcett and recording artists Mariah Carey and Prince, whose album "3121" was inspired by his time spent in the home.
