BEL AIR—After a 24-month renovation, The Hotel Bel-Air reopened its doors on October 14. Two world-famous design teams were tapped by Christopher Cowdray, CEO of Dorchester Collection, to oversee the restoration. The iconic luxury hotel will be offering a limited special preview rate of $595 for rooms. It will be in effect until December 29.

The hotel, which is owned by the Sultan of Brunei’s Dorchester Collection, through this remodel is being ushered into the present with many improvements, including the addition of a presidential suite. The world-famous Spanish architecture is to remain, along with the unmistakable “Bel-Air Pink,” while design themes inspired by the decades of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s present a new air of timeless sophistication befitting such a legendary and historic structure.
The presidential suite, starting at $13,500 a night, has 6,775 square feet of indoor and outdoor living space. It offers dining to accommodate 10 guests, a full chef’s kitchen, a study, a grand piano and a private pool in its own private Spanish courtyard. In addition, a new WiFi network has been installed, ensuring that any and all mobile devices will be able to run at optimal capability.
Also added is a 12,000-square-foot building containing a state-of-the-art fitness studio with three open lofts and double-sided fireplaces with high ceilings. This building also contains a 4,134-square-foot spa by La Prairie featuring seven treatment rooms and a private couples room.
The dining venue, which will be known as Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air, will be overseen by the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group and will focus on modern California cuisine with European and Mediterranean influences.
