BEVERLY HILLS—This week in The Hills I caught up with my “Queen of the Lot” co-star Tanna Frederick, who decided to miss a morning surfing in order to visit me, so I decided to ask the “Twilight” film fan, who loves the films, thinks the director is a genius and all of the actors and characters are awesome. I’ll be attending the exclusive red carpet celebrity premiere next month of “Breaking Dawn Part I,” which is why I decided to find out from Tanna what she hopes will transpire in this sequel, and as normal, she never bores anyone with her opinions. The stunner, who also stars in the title role of “Sylvia” at the Edgemar Theater in Santa Monica is quickly getting Tony Award buzz for her amazing performance with such an incredible cast, led by my friend Gary Imhoff, who is nothing short of a genius.
Come on over to Beverly Hills and catch up with “Breaking Dawn” and Tanna Frederick news. Don’t you think she’d be a perfect fit for the sexy sophisticated and earthy Cullen family in Forks, Washington, where the werewolves and vampires have a real war ahead, fighting over the love of Bella? Anyhow, here is (terrific, talented) Tanna Frederick in her own words.
Q-Firstly, tell us about your upcoming surf event. It's that time again. Who is involved this year?
A-“We have a crazy wonderful crew of people this year, Tommy! Vienna and Kasey Kahl from ‘Bachelor Pad,’ Jesse Spencer from ‘House,’ Gregory Harrison, John Slattery from ‘Mad Men,’ Preston Davis, Galen Gering, comedian Tom Ayers, James Pribram, soap director Peter Brinkerhoff, Michael Rady from ‘Melrose Place,’ Eddie Hassell, skateboard legend Tony Alva, a big crew of guys from the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean,’ Mary Osborne, Jon Rose, PT Townend, Pat Parnell, Jesse Faen, John Philbin from ‘North Shore’ and John Falcow. It’s going to be better than ever in Santa Monica. Plus, we’re kind of bummed the city didn’t let us surf at night, since we’re doing it for the Santa Monica bay, but we will have a super time nonetheless!”
Q-Are you proud of how this and the Iowa Independent Film Festival are going? And what else do you have going on?
A-“Really well. It’s in July and we’re getting in tons of submissions! And besides still running ‘Sylvia’ at the Edgemar Theatre in Santa Monica until December 18. I’m getting ready to shoot my next movie with Michael Imperioli (“Sopranos“) and Corey Feldman next month-super stoked! I hope I get to kiss both of them!
Q-OK, are you as excited as millions of others about the upcoming “Breaking Dawn” next month?
A-“I have to say, yes. I started out as a non-believer. I’ve switched over to the other side.”
Q-Who are you hoping Bella ends up with? Are you Team Edward or Jacob? I’m Team Jacob this time around!
A-“Team Redhead. I want her to live happily ever after with the evil read-head.”
Q-Tanna, who is your favorite “Twilight” character?
A-“The bad-vampire redhead girl-totally dig her.”
Q-Well, it is a movie, but don’t forget Victoria died in “Eclipse!” So, do you think this sequel is going to be as exciting as speculation is stating it?
A-“More exciting! They’re having a baby!”
Q-What is it about the “Twilight” series that captures the attention of us adults, not just the teens?
A-“It’s a fresh way to tell a love story, with characters that are normally considered the antagonists being turned into the protagonists and living an alternative lifestyle. Or maybe the alternative lifestyle is the reason we like it. There are a lot of vegetarians and vegans out there these days, macrobiotic diet lovers, maybe they appreciate the nutritional values of the good vampire family in choosing to live eternally not eating people. Could be a subconscious thing. Or could be an obsession with sunscreen and those SPF 70 lovers like me. There’s no way any of those vampires are developing melanoma anytime soon. Those cats are white. It’s admirable.”

Leave it to Tanna to want the resurrection of the evil redhead Victoria in the upcoming “Breaking Dawn.” Sorry, Tanna, Edward broke her neck and tore her head off. I know vampires are considered the (undead), but that would really be pushing it.
I’ll be supporting Tanna this year for Project Save Our Surf. But like the vampires, I hate the sunlight, so I plan on staying indoors for all the events.
Project Save Our Surf will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 15 and 16, at Tower 28 in Santa Monica, just one mile South of the Santa Monica Pier. There are so many events this year, I cannot possibly list them all. So check out the official website for the event and the charity at www.projectsaveoursurf.org. If you are in L.A. catch Tanna in “Sylvia.” Get your tickets at www.Edgemarcenter.org.

And don’t forget I’ll be covering the red carpet event for next month’s Hollywood premiere of “Breaking Dawn Part I.” The film debuts in theaters across the United States on Friday, November 18.
Signing off from the Hills! XOXO
