In order to be eligible for the competition, the applicants must be students of public or private institutions in
Beverly Hills. If this is not the case, then the person must be associated for at least one year to a school, organization or business in
Beverly Hills. There is the possibility of entering the contest individually or as a group. A form must be filled out along with a video not exceeding 90 seconds with a successful message about bullying. The awards will be given in three different categories: 4th-8th grade, 9th-12th grade and 18 and older. The videos will be judged based on creativity, overall message and the value of it and effectiveness.
The winners of the competition will receive an Embrace Civility Award and city recognition from the Human Relations Commission at a city council meeting. As a complementary award, they will also receive a framed proclamation from the Mayor of the City Council and the video may be aired on the city website and other media on the Beverly Hills Cable.
People interested in Bullying Prevention Video Contest who do not own a video camera are being asked to go to The Beverly Hills Public Library. The library has computers with iMovie and iPads, which are being allowed to be checked out for the sole purposes of the short video competition.
