Pope John Paul II named the Virgin the Patroness of the Americas, and is an important figure in the daily life of the people in the American continent. The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City is only second place after the Vatican to receive the most visitors per year. Millions of people travel to see the tilma of the Virgin made of maguey fiber believed to have been the original since its first apparition to the Indian Juan Diego.

On Wednesday, the parish will play mariachi music during the mass celebration. After the religious gathering, mariachi music will continue playing for visitors to enjoy and will be accompanied with a Mexican feast.

This is the sixth year that the church has hosted the celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe, which will take place starting at 7:30 p.m. The church is located on 504 North Bedford Drive in Beverly Hills, CA 90210. The Church of the Good Shepherd is not only a house of worship, but it was also the setting of the 1954 film, “A Star Is Born,” where Judy Garland, James Mason and Jack Carson starred in.
