Beverly Hills Celebrating Its 100th Birthday

BEVERLY HILLS—Rolex and retailer Gearys are the first commercial sponsors for the celebration of Beverly Hills Centennial to take place beginning January 28, 2014. After the meeting on November 20, the Beverly Hills City Council approved the contract with Rolex, which will be contributing the amount of $300,000 in addition to helping to create an energetic feeling during the yearlong festivity. Another amount of $750,000 for activities to be carried out leading up to the big celebration was made by the Beverly Hills City Council.


Richard Rosenzweig, Chair of the Centennial Committee expressed his gratitude and excitement to be collaborating with Rolex and Gearys. Rosenzweig indicates that these two sponsors portray the glamour and opulence of the city of Beverly Hills. Co-Chair Barry Brucker shared the same sentiment as Rosenzweig, adding to that his eagerness to work in partnership with Rolex and Gearys.

Councilmember and Co-chair Lili Bosse is also thankful to the sponsors. Brucker, Bosse and Rosenzweig are the liaisons for the centennial committee, which consists of 18 people including personalities such as: David Geffen, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Sherry Lansing. The committee has hired an agent who will provide merchandise like clothing, souvenirs, historical books, et cetera at reduced prices.


There will be a need for volunteers to help plan activities for the event. During the commencement, there were about 100 people who considered volunteering. Amongst the attendees were: Board of Education Vice President Jake Manaster, Councilman Julian Gold, Planning Commissioner Brian Rosenstein, Vice Mayor John Mirisch and former Mayor Jimmy Delshad.
