BEVERLY HILLS—Don Rhoads, a 27-year financial and governmental expert, has been appointed the new city Chief Financial Officer and Director of Administrative Services.
Rhoads replaces the former CFO Scott Miller, who announced his retirement last year. The duties of a CFO include overseeing and investing in the city’s finances and perform economic forecasting.
“I am very excited to be joining the Beverly Hills team," Rhoads said. “My focus will be on ensuring that Administrative Services customers continue to receive excellent customer service, that we always look for the best value solution in order to stretch the taxpayer’s dollar, and that there continues to be the highest level of clarity, transparency and integrity in the City’s financial reporting.”
Rhoads, a graduate from California State University Fresno in Business and Accounting, has been working in different cities throughout California as financial director, including Porterville and Monterey.
The appointment of Rhoads comes weeks after the city underwent City Council elections and re-elected mayor William Brien and vice-Mayor John Mirisch. With many new officials taking over the city, Beverly Hills is on its path for innovation.
“We are delighted that Don has agreed to become our new CFO," said Beverly Hills City Manager Jeff Kolin. "He is a seasoned municipal finance veteran with a tremendous record of accomplishment throughout his career. Don has been an innovative and creative manager whose ideas will help guide Administrative Services Department as we move forward.”
Rhoads will begin his duties starting this April.
