BEVERLY HILLS—It has been 75 years since Lawry’s the Prime Rib opened its first restaurant on La Cienega Ave in Beverly Hills in 1938. They will celebrate 75 years in June.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, the first 1,000 guests will be offered prime rib dinners for only $1.25. The meal will also come with spinning bowl salad, mashed potatoes, and Yorkshire pudding.
All the income from the event will be donated to Ability First which is a non-profit organization that benefits children and adults with disabilities. Customers can also donate to the organization that day.
After the inspiration of a British restaurant Simpson’s in the Strand, Lawrence Frank and his brother in law, Walter Van de Kamp founded Lawry’s.
Richard Frank, Head Chef in Lawry’s Beverly Hills, is Lawrence Frank’s grandson. The brown uniform is still worn by employers and the restaurant's tradition is protected.
