Off-Duty Beverly Hills Police Officer Crashes

SIMI VALLEY—An off-duty Beverly Hills Police Officer has been arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and crashing into a home. Jeffrey Sweet, 42, crashed his pickup on Tuesday, September 4, at 10:30 p.m. driving into a utility pole, retaining wall, and house. The accident occurred on the intersection of Blackstock and Royal Avenue in Simi Valley.
The car was found stopped upside down, having ruptured a natural gas line and damaging two homes. All residents were safe, and Sweet suffered mild injuries that were taken care of at a nearby hospital.
Sweet has been booked in the Ventura County Jail. The Simi Valley Police Department will run the investigation of him driving under the influence, while the Beverly Hills Police Department will conduct an internal investigation.
