George Chavez, formerly the City's Building Official will head the new Public Works Services Department. Chavez's duties include water and solid waste, infrastructure maintenance and parking operations, under Utilities. Until recruitment is completed, David Yelton, the Plan Review and Inspection Manager, will serve as the Interim Building Official.
City Infrastructure projects and city owned real estate, under the newly formed Capital Assets department, will be headed by Deputy City Manager David Lightner. He will be responsible for Project Administration, Civil Engineering and Property Management.
Director Susan Healy Keene will lead the Traffic and Transportation Engineering Division, under Community Development.
"Public Works Services will be able to concentrate on providing high-quality water and solid waste services to the community as well as launching new green initiatives. Transportation is a great fit for Community Development because traffic issues are such an important part of City planning. And Capital Assets will be able to focus on maximizing the value of City-owned assets and making sure City construction projects run smoothly," said City Manager Jeff Kolin.
