BEVERLY HILLS—Comedian and this year’s Oscar host, Seth MacFarlane, will announce the nominees for the 85th Annual Academy Awards alongside actress Emma Stone on Thursday, January 10. This will be the first time since 1972 that an Oscar host has participated in the nominations announcement. In 1972, the Oscar host was Charlton Heston.

Both MacFarlane and Stone will be present as the nominees are announced live at 5:30 a.m. PST during a news conference at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Hundreds of media representatives from across the globe will be on hand for the nominations.

Since the first nominations announcement in 1964, the President of the Academy has been known to present the nominees alongside another actor or actress during the event. MacFarlane has become a staple in the comedy arena thanks to his animated series “Family Guy” and “American Dad.”  He recently dived into the big screen with the 2012 comedy “Ted,” starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis in which he portrayed the voice of a talking teddy bear with a foul mouth.

Stone has graced the screen in a multitude of pictures, including last year’s Best Picture nominee “The Help.”  She also starred in the movies “Crazy Stupid Love,” “The Amazing Spiderman,” “Easy A,” “Superbad,” and will be seen in the upcoming “Gangster Squad,” which hits theaters on Friday, January 11.

Nominations for all categories will be issued to media outlets attending the event, but will also be available online at The 85th Annual Academy Awards will be handed out on Sunday, February 24, at the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood and Highland Center live at 5:30 p.m. PST on ABC.  The ceremony will be televised in more than 225 countries worldwide.
