Snow In The 90210
Posted by Ben Jury on Dec 12, 2011 - 7:48:53 PM

BEVERLY HILLS–Who says it never snows in LA? Snow 90210, an event happening Thursdays and Fridays throughout December, brings snow to Rodeo Drive. Three blocks will be showered with snow to encourage and entertain shoppers this holiday season. Snow 90210 is a part of a larger event, Sparkle 90210, founded by the Rodeo Drive Committee.

The city of Beverly Hills began a tradition of blanketing the streets with fresh powder last year, adding some other ‘cool’ events to the mix. Friday, December 15 will kick off this week’s festivities on Rodeo, with snow and sparkle effects all around. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will pay a visit between 11 am and 3 pm on Saturday, December 16 and again on December 23. Horse and carriage rides are also available that day.

Live music and an appearance from High School Musical star Monique Coleman are some highlights. The lighting of the UNICEF snowflake, a large piece covered by 12,000 crystals, was lit last Friday to commemorate one of UNICEF’s principal goals: that one day the number of children who die from preventable diseases will fall to zero. Shoppers can hang intricate ornaments in exchange for a $10 donation to UNICEF.

Twitter user DarkestPixie1 tweeted, “'All that glitters is not gold' ...which is fine because it's @swarovski!! #LetItSparkle Happy Holidays!” This event continues through the holiday season, and over 50 stores are participating in sales and extended hours this year.
