Traffic Closures For Golden Globe Awards

BEVERLY HILLS—The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be taking place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel which will cause a number of street closures and parking restrictions put into place temporarily, according to a press release issued by the Beverly Hills Police Department.

Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed from Wilshire Boulevard to Century Park East on Sunday from 9 a.m. to midnight. The South roadway of Santa Monica Boulevard, however, will remain open during this time.

Whitter Drive from Lomitas Avenue to Wilshire Boulevard will have a street closure in order to accommodate for those attending the ceremony. It will be closed to through traffic but residents living between Wilshire and Elevado will be able to drive to their homes in a lane that will be open on the east curb. Police will be at the area in order to help ease the flow of traffic.

The parking restrictions will be placed on Whitter Drive between Lomitas and Wilshire Boulevard on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with no exemptions. "No Parking" signs will be placed from 6 a.m. to midnight on the following streets:
Elevado Drive- between Wilshire Boulevard and Walden Drive, Trenton Drive”“ between Whittier Drive and Wilshire Boulevard, Carmelita Avenue”“ between Wilshire Boulevard and Walden Drive, Walden Drive”“ between Santa Monica Boulevard and Whittier Drive.

Residents with permit parking can call the City's Transportation Department at (310) 285-2548 to receive a parking exemption. Problems that occur on Sunday can be reported to the Police Department at (310) 550-4875.

"Please understand that we have taken every step to minimize the impact and inconvenience to the area while protecting the safety and security to the City, residents and event guests," stated the official press release. Those with questions can contact the City's Office of Community Services at (310) 285-2408 or Sergeant Dennis Lynch at the Police Department Traffic Bureau at (310) 285-2196.

The awards ceremony will be hosted by comedic actresses Tina Fey and Amy Poehler air on Sunday at 5 p.m. Pacific Time on NBC.
