BEVERLY HILLS—A theme has been chosen for the upcoming art show at the Beverly Gardens.

To commemorate the Beverly Hills artSHOW's 40th anniversary, a ruby theme was chosen that will be highlighted by over 240 new and returning nationally acclaimed artists, according to a press release from the city. Several jewelry artists are expected to contribute to the theme, including Sasa Blackhoff, Paul Farmer, Kevin McGinnis and Deidre Greene, who will demonstrate to patrons “the crafting of ruby and copper jewelry.”

“The seminal Beverly Hills artSHOW has become one of the most popular outdoor events in Southern California,” said Steve Zoet, Community Service Director for the city. “This year's ruby theme invites a broad range of interpretations, from ceramics to glass to jewels, sculptures, paintings and more. We can't wait to see what the artists create.”

Other contributions are expected from such artists as glass blower Donald Carlson, mixed media artist Elaine Hyde and pop-surrealist painter Jett Jackson, and all of their work will explore the ruby theme.

The artSHOW will feature a variety of amenities that will range from a wine and beer garden to food trucks to live entertainment. Family activities will also take place, giving youngsters a chance to enjoy the night out as well. The artists whose work will be highlighted at the event will be on hand to talk about their particular contributions. For those wishing to take a bit of the event home with them, all of the art shown during the event will be available for purchase.

The show will take place on May 17 and 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Beverly Gardens along Santa Monica Boulevard. Admission to the show is free, and parking is available across from the show at an “inexpensive” price. To find out more about the show, residents can visit www.beverlyhills.org/artshow or call 310-285-6830.
