BRENTWOOD—LAPD West Los Angeles Area detectives continue to investigate a burglary of a Brentwood home that took place in mid July, and they are asking the public's help in identifying and finding the two individuals allegedly responsible.
Thus far, detectives have been able to deduce that the burglary occurred during the early morning hours of July 14 on the 100 block of South Barrington Avenue, which is close to the intersection of Sunset and West Sunset boulevards east of the Archer School For Girls, a police release states. Before they fled from the premises because an alarm went off, the two suspects took mail from the home's box. At the time, they were trying to gain entry to the residence through a rear door.
Video of the incident shows the two suspects walking into the home's backyard at 3:12 a.m., both using a flashlight to see where they are going. They inspect several windows that are ultimately not used to enter the residence before the video ends.
Hours earlier, one of the suspects is seen looking around. This on July 13 at about 11:55 p.m. He is being described by police as a 35 to 45-year-old White male with long hair standing at 6 feet, 2 inches and weighing 170 pounds. In the black and white video, the male suspect is wearing a light-colored jacket and pants with white shoes.
Police describe the other suspect as a White male, 35 to 45 years of age, who is between 5 feet, 8 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 220 pounds. He is seen in the video wearing a beanie cap, a short-sleeved button shirt, dark shoes and black gloves.
Anyone who has information to relate regarding this ongoing investigation can contact West Los Angeles Detective Guevara at 310-444-1523 or 310-444-1522 during normal business hours. At all other times, tipsters can call 213-978-6500 or 877-LAPD-24-7. Those who want to remain anonymous can call 800-333-8577 or text "LAPD" via cell phone to 274637.
Since the aforementioned incident, all but three of 13 other home burglary incidents that have been reported to police occurred within two miles south of South Barrington Avenue, crime data indicates. The three home burglaries that stand out took place further to the north.
Of the 13 burglaries, five took place between 800 North Bundy Drive down to 1000 South Bundy Drive, five took place between 11600 and 11900 San Vicente boulevards and two took place 800 and 1100 Wellesley Avenue.
But for all the incidents for which police have provided details, none involved suspects looking around on the premises of a home looking for an open door or window though which to gain entry, as was the case with the July 14 incident. These are tactics that have been recently utilized by home burglars in northwest portion of Woodland Hills.
In fact, the later home burglaries in Brentwood involved suspects smashing or kicking in doors, cutting screen doors, smashing or prying windows in order to get inside and steal items that have included cash, credit cards, watches, paintings, just to name a few.
