BRENTWOOD—On Sunday May 18, the city of Brentwood held an evacuation drill for Mandeville Canyon to inform residents how to properly evacuate from the area in the event of an emergency.
The Upper Mandeville Canyon Association’s main priority for residents is for them to know that “protecting [their] life and property in an emergency is not a game, but a lot of teamwork is involved." The evacuation drill will teach citizens to be ready and to know where to go in the event that a Red Flag Alert orders them to evacuate their house.
According to the Upper Mandeville Canyon Association website, residents participating in the evacuation drill received a call at 9:45 a.m. and were instructed to leave their residence by 10:00 a.m.
They were required to go to the nearest evacuation zone, which was
PaulRevereMiddle School. Upon arrival to the school, participants had the option to return back home or stay for the Safety Fair from 12 to 3 p.m. Food and refreshments were served throughout the fair. Guest speakers from the Red Cross, LAPD, LAFD, Animal Control and Rescue, My Safe, along with Mayor Garcetti and many more were in attendance.
