BRENTWOOD—Charles Solomon's team faced off with their opponents, the Cavaliers of Gardena Serra in the Southern California Regional Division IV quarterfinal but suffered a disappointing loss as the scoreboard’s final tally read 91-45.
The Eagles (22-10), against long odds beat Fresno San Joaquin Memorial on Wednesday, but could not supplant the Cavs (29-3).
At a similar event on February 29 in Anaheim against the Campbell Hall Vikings, the wind went out of Brentwood’s sails early as Campbell pulled ahead from the start. In this most recent loss, Serra leaped to a 10-2 lead, building and holding that advantage over the Eagles every quarter.
The season held many happy surprises for the Eagles: an eight-game winning streak at season’s start, the Inglewood Tournament championship, and a March 7 triumph over Fresno San Joaquin, in addition to other accomplishments.
