BRENTWOOD—During the early morning hours of Thursday, September 1, an unknown suspect was caught on videotape robbing a 7-Eleven convenience store down the street from the Brentwood Place Shopping Center. He remains at large.
On that date, at 2:15 a.m., a black male entered a 7-Eleven on the 11650 block of Wilshire Boulevard, pointed a handgun at an employee behind the counter and demanded that money be put inside of a blue bag, which may have been a pillow case, a police news release states.
Closed Circuit Television video shows the suspect leaving off-screen for a moment, then walking behind the counter near the employee, who proceeds to empty the adjacent cash register. The suspect leaves the area off-screen, then returns as the employee empties a third register.
Thereafter, the man runs from the store in an unknown direction without a problem, though he passes a sign indicating that the floor is wet. The employee behind the counter is seen on the video keeping his hands in the air as this happens. It is unknown how much money the suspect took.
Beforehand, when the suspect came in the store, he ran toward two customers at the rear, pointed the handgun toward them and ordered that they get down on the ground. Video shows the suspect later approaching them twice during the robbery incident to make sure they stay down.
In 49 seconds, the suspect was able to enter the store, rob it, then leave.
Though police describe the suspected robber as black, the video shows that most of his face cannot be seen, as it is covered with a black ski mask during the incident. In the video, the suspect is also wearing a black and gray-hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and black gloves. The suspect is further described as 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 7 inches and weighing 150 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous.

This marks the first Brentwood robbery reported to police in September, crime reports state. And it marks third robbery reported since the beginning of the month of August. All of the aforementioned robberies took place within an about 1.5 mile-radius of one another, and each progressively took place in a southwestern direction away from Los Angeles National Veterans Park.
