Hannigan obtained the court order on Wednesday, February 13 in Los Angeles Superior Court which states that John Hobbs must remain at least 100 yards away from the actress, her husband, Alexis Denisof, as well as their two daughters Satyana and Keeva.
According to court documents, the 43-year-old man from Nashua, New Hampshire threatened to murder Hannigan and Denisof with “a barrage of threatening messages” on his Facebook page as well as other websites.
"In 2013 I still can marry you tomorrow," read a Facebook post by Hobbs included in the court filing. "I can kill you tomorrow too. Cause I simply like and love you as you live life. Aly... It doesn't end. Even after death."
The court files also indicate that Hobbs was recently released from a mental hospital and he admitted to police in New Hampshire that he wanted to go to California in order to meet Hannigan. In addition, Hobbs has reportedly owned a pistol permit since 2000.
Hannigan is known for her current role on the CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother," which was recently confirmed for a ninth and final season. She has also starred in the television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and the original "American Pie" film series.
