NEW YORK CITY—The former Nickelodeon actress was arrested in her New York City apartment on Thursday, May 23 for possession and tampering with police evidence. Bynes, 27, allegedly threw a bong out of her apartment window when police officers came to her door. She was then arrested for criminal possession of marijuana, reckless endangerment, as well as felony charges for tampering with evidence. Bynes was then taken to a local hospital and given a psychiatric evaluation before being taken to the police station where she was booked.

Following the arrest, Bynes has reportedly spoken up saying that the bong was actually a vase. She took to her alleged twitter account, saying, “I only smoke tobacco. I don't drink or do drugs. I've never had a bong in my life!”

The actress has also made claims that she was sexually assaulted by one of the officers who came to her apartment. On Twitter she wrote, “I was sexually harassed by one of the cops the night before last which is who then arrested me. He lied and said I threw a bong out the window when I opened the window for fresh air. I then called the cops on him. The cop sexually harassed me, they found no pot on me or bong outside my window.”

NYPD is currently looking into the sexual harassment charges Bynes is alleging. The actress is still being charged on all counts since there were witnesses who report seeing Bynes smoking marijuana and that it was indeed a bong she threw out the window.
