LOS ANGELES—Many are claiming actress Amanda Bynes is going through a mental breakdown similar to that of pop sensation Britney Spears in 2007. Bynes, however, claims she is of sound mind and that the claims against her are false.

After being charged for driving under the influence and two misdemeanor hit-and-runs, Bynes license was suspended on August 25. It was revealed Bynes was pulled over on September 9 for forgetting to turn off her lights. However, the police officer did not check to see that her license was suspended and let her off with a warning.
On Sunday, September 16, the 26-year-old was pulled over on Hollywood Way around 8:20 a.m. and when the officer ran her license, he noticed its suspension. Reports indicate that the black BMW was then impounded and Bynes was given a misdemeanor ticket for driving on a suspended license.
"Why did I get put in jail and a nickelodeon star has had NO punishment(s) so far?" tweeted Lindsay Lohan.
According to reports, Bynes was in a dressing room at the West Hollywood store, Kin, for almost two hours. Store clerks grew worried as they heard banging from the room every ten minutes. She refused to get out when asked to by the clerks, and claimed she needed more time.
Claims have been made by several people that Bynes may be suffering from a serious mental illness. She has been seen talking to herself, as well as to inanimate objects. The actress has defended herself by claiming the pipe she was caught smoking while driving was merely tobacco, she does not suffer from a substance abuse problem, and that the charges against her are completely bogus.
Bynes is expected in court for a hearing on Friday, September 21, for her pending DUI charge.
