The charges are for two separate incidents that occurred on April 10 and August 4, 2012. The actress will be arraigned on September 27 in Van Nuys. if convicted, Bynes can face up to six months in jail for each count. The case in April was reopened after her second crash in August.
The LAPD's Valley Traffic Division investigated the second collision in connection with Bynes that took place on Ventura Boulevard. A motorist claims a vehicle driven by Bynes rear-ended as well as damaged her Toyota. The driver reported that Bynes stopped for a mere moment, decided there were no damages and drove off.
The driver, however, told authorities she did not receive any proof of insurance information from Bynes and the actress refused to involve the police. When the police contacted Bynes, she reported that she and the woman mutually agreed that there were no major damages as it was a low-speed collision.
Police confirmed that the Toyota had about $800 in damages and Bynes didn't exchange insurance information or call the police, as it is stated in the law.
The case is the third run-in Bynes has had with the law this year as she was charged with driving under the influence after her arrest in April when she allegedly hit a L.A. County sheriff's cruiser. She was arrested around 3 a.m. on April 6 near the corner of Robertson and Santa Monica boulevards in West Hollywood.
"Hey @BarackObama... I don't drink," tweeted Bynes after the incident. "Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don't hit and run. The end."
Bynes has also been charged for refusing to take a sobriety test.
