HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Actor Richard Gere and actress Carey Lowell are divorcing after 11 years of marriage, according to reports on Wednesday, September 25.
The couple is reportedly splitting due to differences in lifestyle and has “been spending time apart for quite sometime,” according to reports.
“They have a place in Bedford, and he likes it because it’s quiet and he likes the solitude. She likes being in North Haven in the limelight,” a source close to the couple told the NY Post.
The two were last seen together at the Golden Globe Awards in January 2013. It is not yet clear when the couple will file for the divorce.
Gere, 64, and Lowell, 52, wed in 2002 and have a 13-year-old son, Homer, together. Gere was previously married to supermodel Cindy Crawford and Lowell was married to photographer John Stember and actor/director Griffin Dunne.
Gere is known for his roles in movies like “Pretty Woman” and “Primal Fear,” while Lowell is known for her role as a Bond girl in “License To Kill” and other films including “Sleepless in Seattle” and “Leaving Las Vegas.”
Gere will begin filming his next movie “Franny” in October, which shows the actor portraying “a hedonistic philanthropist who ingratiates himself into the lives of a newlywed couple in order to recreate the life he once lived,” according to Variety.
Representatives for the couple have not yet issued a statement.
