The 18-year-old was pulled over at approximately 10:45 a.m. after reportedly speeding on the freeway between Coldwater Canyon and Vineland Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), there were two vehicles that were driving recklessly as the one behind the first vehicle was chased along the freeway.
"A traffic stop was made on the lead vehicle, and
the driver was identified as 18-year-old Justin Bieber," the CHP
reported. "The second vehicle fled the area and (a) follow-up
investigation is underway to determine the identity of the driver as
well as the charges to be filed."
According to reports, Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine noticed Bieber's sports car driving down the freeway at what seemed to be a speed of over 100 mph. Zine called 911 and reported the speeding cars. Allegations have been made that Bieber was attempting to lose the paparazzi off his tail as they followed him.
Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, has claimed that the singer was given a citation for driving 80 mph, which was 15 mph over the speed limit. Shortly after he was pulled over, it has been claimed that Bieber called the police in order to inform them that he was once again being followed vigorously by the paparazzi.
The CHP will investigate the allegations in order to determine whether or not the paparazzi were creating a hazardous situation.
