Posted by Ivetta Babadjanian on Nov 1, 2012 - 3:23:29 PM

HUNTINGTON BEACH—Lead singer of heavy-metal band Suicide Silence, Mitch Lucker, died on Thursday, November 1 after a motorcycle accident on Halloween night.

Police have reported that at approximately 8:55 p.m. Lucker, 28,  lost control of his 2013 Harley Davidson and hit a light pole near the intersection of main and 13 Streets causing him to be thrown off the motorcycle. The motorcycle continued sliding on Main Street and hit a northbound 2007 Nissan Titan pickup truck. However, no one else was injured from the accident.

The singer was treated on scene by Huntington Beach Fire Department paramedics and he was sent to the UCI Medical Center with severe injuries. He was pronounced dead Thursday morning at 6:17 a.m.

A police investigation is ongoing in order to determine the cause of the crash and if alcohol or drugs played a factor. The band released a statement via their official Facebook page confirming his death.

"There's no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts. R.I.P. Mitchell Adam Lucker - We Love You Brother."

Suicide Silence was formed in Riverside, California in 2002 where they recorded two demo albums. Their third and final demo album was released through Third Degree Records and later re-released in the UK through the English label Deep End Records.

The band signed to Century Media in 2008 and released their debut full-length album, "The Cleansing." The album debuted at number 94 on the Billboard 200 and sold 7,250 copies in its first week of release. It became the best-selling debut album in Century Media history.

Their second album, "No Time To Bleed," also became successful as it reached number 32 on the Billboard 200 and sold 14,000 copies in its first week in the United States alone. In 2009, they received the Revolver Golden God award for "Most Innovative Band" and "Best New Talent."

The band's most recent album, "The Black Crown," was released last summer and they appeared at the 2012 Vans Warped Tour. They were scheduled to perform at the California Metalfest in San Bernardino as well as the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour.

Lucker leaves behind wife Jolie Lucker and his five-year-old daughter Kendee.
