It has been reported that the case will be filed as a misdemeanor by the Santa Monica City Attorney sometime this week. Concerning the crash, Lohan stated that she was not behind the wheel of her Porsche when it hit the back of an 18-wheeler truck.
The truck driver reported that Lohan got out of the driver's side of the vehicle and went into another car while one of her associates offered money in order to keep the crash out of the media. The truck driver responded by calling 911 as he believed they would flee the scene. Lohan was later taken to a hospital for minor injuries.
However, multiple witnesses have disclaimed her statement to the police by stating Lohan was in fact driving when the accident occurred. The charge against Lohan may lead to a probation violation in the 26-year-old's shoplifting case which can result to her spending time in jail.
A judge ended Lohan's supervised probation in March that were results of her shoplifting and drunk-driving convictions, but an informal probation remains intact until May 2014.
It has also been reported that police officials found prescription pills in Lohan's purse at the time of the incident, but Lohan's attorney provided documentation proving the pills were legally obtained through prescription by her physician. It has been indicated that the pills weren't in the original pill bottles, thus, additional charges may be placed as the pills were improperly contained.
