Lindsay Lohan Suspect In Jewelry Theft
Posted by Ivetta Babadjanian on Aug 27, 2012 - 3:59:50 PM

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—There was constant speculation on whether or not actress Lindsay Lohan was involved in a theft that took place in Sam Magid's Hollywood Hills home. Police initially reported that Lohan was not a suspect. However, as of Monday, August 27, the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that Lohan is now an official suspect.

Magid was hosting a party in his home on Saturday, August 18, when the theft reportedly took place. Lindsay and a few other guests spent the night at the home and awoke when Magid realized that $100,000 worth of his jewelry was stolen, including several watches and sunglasses.

Lohan claimed she took no part in the burglary but Magid believed that the two 26-year-old men she brought to the party were involved. Reports indicate that Lohan asked the police that arrived on scene if she was a suspect. When they said no, she left the scene of the crime to go home. LAPD have since changed their statement and have regarded both Lohan and her assistant Gavin Doyle as suspects in the theft.

Magid tried to retract his statement and indicated that he was mistaken when he informed police that anything was stolen. The police are determined to continue with the investigation despite Magid's new statement as they believe there are witnesses who can pinpoint the theft on Doyle and Lohan.

The lawyer for Lohan and Doyle was contacted by the police in order to schedule an interview with the two suspects but the lawyer rejected the request.

In May of 2011, Lohan pleaded no contest to misdemeanor theft for stealing a $2,500 necklace from the L.A. store Venice. Lohan argued that the necklace was given to her as a loan and her stylist was meant to return it. The store's owner, on the other hand, claimed Lohan walked out of the store with the jewel after trying on and removing several items. The court found her guilty of felony grand theft and was sentenced to 120 days in jail and 480 hours of community service.

Lohan is still on probation for her former theft charge and may receive jail time if she is proven guilty of the second theft case.
