HOLLYWOOD—Actress Lindsay Lohan
continues to make headlines as she will not be prosecuted for the jewelry theft
she was announced as a suspect for. However, she has been banned from the
Chateau Marmont Hotel.

Prosecutors determined on Tuesday, August 28, that Lohan would not be
prosecuted for the burglary that took place in Sam Magid's Hollywood Hills
home. The decision was announced after Los Angeles police detectives
presented a potential felony burglary against the actress and two men after
several of Magid's expensive jewelry went missing on Saturday, August 18. The
theft was reported after Magid had a party in his home in which Lohan, along
with her two male guests, attended.
Soon after Magid made the report of his missing items, he retracted his
statement in order to end the police investigation. Police officials, however,
decided to proceed with the investigation with Lohan and her assistant, Gavin
Doyle, as suspects. The LAPD believed that there was sufficient evidence and
eyewitnesses that could pinpoint Lohan as one of the people involved in the
theft.
A prosecutor wrote in a memo rejecting the theft charges claiming "we do not have sufficient evidence to prove this
case beyond a reasonable doubt."
The actress' spokesman, Steve Honig, released a statement indicating
"Lindsay is glad this matter has been cleared up so she can focus on her
upcoming projects. It is unfortunate that many media
outlets were quick to point fingers and jump to conclusions without having all
the facts."
Recent reports have also indicated that Lohan received a letter from General
Manager of the Chateau Marmont Hotel, Phillip Pavel, stating she is banned from
the premises because she has yet to pay her $46,350.04 fine. Pavel claims that
the popular Los Angeles hotel repeatedly
requested Lohan to make the payment for the 47 days she stayed there during
June and July of this year.
"As we have made repeated attempts to resolve this pressing matter over
the last few weeks without any resolution, I regret to inform you that we will
no longer be able to extend any further credit for you to remain in the
hotel," wrote Pavel in the letter addressed to Lohan.
The letter was dated for July 31 and she was ordered to pack her things and
leave the hotel by 12 p.m. on August 1.
"It appears that a private
correspondence between Chateau Marmont's general manager and Miss Lohan was
leaked by a member of her entourage," the hotel said in a statement on
Wednesday, August 29. "We are as horrified, disappointed and troubled by
this occurrence as Miss Lohan surely is. Obviously, this is a private matter
between one of our guests and the hotel and we will continue to treat it as such."
