Lohan Pleads Not Guilty To Violating Probation
Posted by Ivetta Babadjanian on Jan 15, 2013 - 4:40:17 PM

SANTA MONICA—Actress Lindsay Lohan could spend time in jail next month due to allegations that she lied to a police officer who was investigating a car crash that occurred last June on the Pacific Highway in Santa Monica.

Her charges regarding the traffic accident where she collided with a truck include three misdemeanor counts of lying to police, reckless driving and obstructing police from performing their duties. She informed police her assistant was driving the Porsche when the accident happened, however, police state they have evidence proving otherwise. The incident took place while Lohan was on her way to the set for the filming of Lifetime's "Liz and Dick."

Due to the three misdemeanor charges, Lohan's probation from 2011 involving the theft of a necklace was revoked in December. If convicted, she can be sent to jail for up to 245 days for violating her probation for her shoplifting conviction.

The 26-year-old actress is currently facing criminal prosecution in both California as well as New York, where she is being charged for allegedly assaulting a woman at a Manhattan club in November. She has recently fired the attorney that was representing her in California, Shawn Holley, through a letter that was sent by the attorney representing her in New York, Mark Heller.

The letter stated that Heller would represent the actress on all criminal matters and it was signed with Lohan's signature of approval. Recent reports indicate Lohan is regretting the letter and will attempt to keep Holley as her attorney.

In court on Tuesday, January 15, Holley was asked by
Los Angeles County Superior Court Commissioner Jane Godfrey if she was still representing Lohan to which she replied, "Yes, at this point, yes." Holley gave a "not guilty" plea to violating probation on Lohan's behalf.

Lohan was not required to attend Tuesday's arraignment, but she is required to be in court on January 30 when the judge and lawyers prepare for next month's trial. Lohan's trial date is set for February 27.
