Paris Jackson Attempts Suicide
Posted by Ivetta Babadjanian on Jun 5, 2013 - 3:13:02 PM

CALABASAS—Paris Jackson, daughter of Michael Jackson, attempted suicide on Wednesday, June 5 in her family's Calabasas home. Jackson was taken from the scene on a stretcher by paramedics at approximately 1:30 a.m. Jackson was taken to the nearest hospital where she has been placed under a 5150 psychiatric hold for 72 hours.

The Jackson family's attorney released a statement on Wednesday indicating Jackson was physically fine and asked the media to respect the family's privacy.

"Being a sensitive 15 year old is difficult no matter who you are. It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you. Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention. Please respect her privacy and the family's privacy," he said in the statement.

Jackie, Marlon and Tito Jackson also released a statement regarding the incident. “Thank you for the outpouring of concern and support for Paris. She is safe and doing fine,” they said in a statement. “We truly appreciate you respecting our family’s privacy at this time.”

Reports indicate the 15-year-old took a large number of Motrin pills and cut her right forearm with a meat cleaver which needed numerous stitches. Additional reports state that Jackson left behind a suicide note. Various sources have stated Jackson has attempted suicide before and recent photos of her show possible cutting scars on her wrists.

On Tuesday night, the teenager tweeted “i wonder why tears are salty?" and quoted a song by The Beatles, “yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they’re here to stay.”

Jackson is currently a witness in a civil trial as her family filed a lawsuit against AEG for negligence due to their hiring of Dr. Conrad Murray for the belated Michael Jackson. Murray gave a fatal dose of the anesthetic propofol to the pop singer in an attempt to help him sleep.

The Jackson family also state that AEG prepared a tour for Jackson that he was not ready for physically. AEG states, however, that it was allegedly Jackson's choice to hire Murray and the company recommended a British doctor.

Michael Jackson died in 2009, two weeks prior to his "This Is It" tour which was to begin in London. Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011.
