Taye Diggs Catches Burglar In Studio City Home

STUDIO CITY—Actor Taye Diggs interrupted a burglary at his Studio City home after coming home late from the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday, January 27.

Diggs and his wife, Idina Menzel, arrived at their home in the 3100 block of Oakdell Lane at approximately 11:10 p.m. when they saw an intruder inside.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Hassan Omar Juma, attempted to flee from the scene of the crime, but Tiggs managed to chase him down and tackle him. The 42-year-old actor detained Juma until police arrived.
Juma reportedly twisted his ankle and Diggs was uninjured. According to the police, Juma was held on $50,000 bail for suspicion of burglary. He pleaded not guilty in Van Nuys Superior Court on Tuesday, January 29 to one count of first-degree burglary. He is due back in court on February 8.
Diggs is best known for his roles in the Broadway musical "Rent," the movie "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" and the television show "Private Practice."
