USC Loses Top Spot To Alabama

LOS ANGELES—It took the USC Trojans just 14 seconds into their season to score a touchdown. When it was all said and done, the AP's #1 team beat Hawaii 49-10 and Heisman hopeful Matt Barkley was in near perfect form, throwing for 372 yards and 4 touchdowns.
But Tuesday morning's AP Poll saw Southern California drop a spot in the polls in favor of the Crimson Tide of Alabama.
Facing off against #9 Michigan at a neutral field, the Crimson Tide indeed rolled in Cowboys Stadium, and their 41-14 victory impressed the voters enough to make the defending champions the #1 team in the nation.
Alabama had questions on the defensive side of the ball coming into the year, but the Tide blanketed any the Michigan offense, making the Wolverines star quarterback, Denard Robinson, look rather mediocre. The Crimson Tide were also a team with a reputation of low scoring. 41 points later, Bama showed the country that they could put points on the board.
The rest of the AP Top 10 has LSU, Oregon, and Oklahoma at 3, 4, and 5, with Florida St., Georgia, Arkansas, South Carolina, and West Virginia rounding out the top 10.
