Blackhawks Take Game One

CHICAGO—The Chicago Blackhawks took game one of the Western Conference Finals over the Los Angeles Kings. The Blackhawks won 2-1 on their home floor to improve 7-1 on their home floor for the playoffs.

Marian Hossa tipped in the tiebreaking goal in the second period to help lead the Blackhawks to victory. Patrick Sharp also made a goal in the second period and Corey Crawford made 21 saves for Chicago. This is there fourth home win in a row heading into game two on Sunday.


Jonathan Quick stopped 34 shots and Justin Williams scored for the Los Angeles Kings in the first period. The problem with the Kings is on the road they have only won one of their seven games in the playoffs. The defending Stanley Cups champions got their center Jarret Stoll from a suspected concussion, but their offensive woes continued.


The best of seven game series between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Los Angeles Kings will continue on Sunday in Chicago with game two. The winner of this series will advance to the Stanley Cup Finals against the winner of the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins.
