Boston Bruins Take 2-0 Lead

PITTSBURGH—The Boston Bruins took a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals with a win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Bruins won 6-1 on the road to take a commanding lead to try and eliminate the Penguins.

The Bruins used a four goal first period to take the game out of the Penguins hands. Brad Marchand scored twice in the first period, Nathan Horton and David Krejci also had goals during the first period. Patrice Bergeron and Johnny Boychuk also scored goals both scored during the third period.

 

The No. 1 seeded Penguins find them selves in a deep hole. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin were held scoreless for a second straight game. They were the NHL’s highest scoring team. Brandon Sutter had one goal for the Penguins during the first period.

 

The best of seven games series will continue on Wednesday in Boston for game three. The winner of this series will advance to the Stanley Cup Finals against the winner of the Western Conference Finals between the Los Angeles Kings and the Chicago Blackhawks.
