Chicago Blackhawks Win Stanley Cup

BOSTON—On Monday, June 24, the Chicago Blackhawks cap off the NHL Playoffs with a win in Boston to take home the Stanley Cup. The Blackhawks won 3-2 scoring two of their three goals in the last minute and a half of regulation within a span of 17 seconds.

The Blackhawks used three consecutive wins to capture the title. Jonathan Toews tied the game for Chicago during the second period. The Blackhawks would eventually go down 2-1 with the game all, but over. In the last minute and a half of the third period, the Blackhawks scored two consecutive goals. Bryan Bickell scored the second goal in the third period and Dave Bolland scored again fifteen seconds later to win the game. Corey Crawford had 23 saves for Chicago compared to Tuukka Rask who had 28 saves for the Bruins.

 

Chris Kelly scored the first goal for Boston, which came during the first period. Milan Lucic scored the second goal for the Bruins during the third period to help his team go up by one, but they weren’t able to keep the lead.

 

Patrick Kane was named the playoff most valuable player and received the Conn Smythe Trophy.
