Posted by Amanda Macke on Sep 18, 2013 - 4:02:35 PM

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Sadie Kitchen and Lounge will host the AIDS Walk Los Angeles Kick-Off Celebration this Tuesday, September 24, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

AIDS Walk Los Angeles and AIDS Project Los Angeles are throwing a party for their fundraising walkers at the new American fine dining restaurant, Sadie Kitchen and Lounge. The event is to acknowledge participants’ commitment to the prevention of HIV/AIDS and their fundraising efforts for the upcoming charity walk, set to take place Sunday, October 13.

Complimentary hors d’oeuvres, wine, and beer will be served at the venue, according to the AIDS Walk LA (AWLA) website. Potential attendees are encouraged to RSVP beforehand via their website or call 213-201-9255, since space is limited.

“Fundraising walkers, get ready for a night of fun!” wrote AWLA on their Twitter page.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA); one of the nation’s largest AIDS non-profit organizations. According to their website, APLA is dedicated to “improving the lives of people affected by HIV disease; reducing the incidence of HIV infection; and advocating for fair and effective HIV-related public policy.”

The charity’s upcoming AIDS Walk Los Angeles event is California’s largest AIDS fundraiser. Last year, 30,000 walkers participated and raised over $2.9 million for the cause.
