Kutcher Hospitalized Before Filming "JOBS"
Posted by Katherine Noland on Jan 28, 2013 - 4:47:59 PM

HOLLYWOOD—After adopting a fruitarian diet for his latest role in a biopic about Steve Jobs, actor Ashton Kutcher was hospitalized two days before the shooting of the film for problems with his pancreas.

Kutcher stuck to only fruits, nuts, and seeds as means of method acting to replicate the Apple founders’ lifestyle for the new film “jOBS,” a biopic that premiered on Friday, January 25 at the Sundance Film Festival and is set to be released nationwide in April.

The 34-year-old actor was admitted to the hospital two days before they started shooting.  Jobs often stuck to a strict, fruit only diet, which caused serious health problems, leading to his death in October 2011 from pancreatic cancer. Kutcher claims to have been aware of the risks, and also studied and adopted other mannerisms of Jobs,’ such as his hunched back and unique speech.

The movie “jOBS,” directed by Joshua Michael Stern, reflects Apple’s beginning to end, showing how Jobs transformed from just a college drop out to one of the most successful entrepreneurs of the 20th century. Other cast members include Josh Dat “Love *& Other Drugs,” “21,” Dermont Mulroney “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “The Grey,” Amanda Crew “Charlie St. Cloud,” “Sex Drive,” and James Woods “Casino.”

The picture has received mixed reviews at the festival, but Steve Wozniak the co-founder of Apple Inc. has criticized the movie for straying too far away from the truth.
