HOLLYWOOD—Trying to think of ways to avoid the I-405 closure this weekend? Metro is promoting an “Eat, Shop, and Play Locally” event this weekend on September 29-30. The event offers many Los Angeles area communities the opportunity to enjoy eating, shopping, and playing locally in their area to avoid Carmageddon II/the I-405 freeway closure.
Many restaurants, bike tours, museums, art galleries, and retail stores in the area will be providing discounts and free admissions to Metro riders with passes or rail tickets this weekend. The Metro will run until 2 a.m. this Friday and Saturday. Check out the www.metro.net/interactives/event_map/to see what shops, businesses, galleries, and restaurants are offering discounts. The site has icons for eating, shopping, and playing.
The areas consist of downtown Los Angeles, North Hollywood, Malibu, Beverly Hills, and even in Long Beach. The Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art in Malibu will be offering free admission for Metro riders, the J. Lawson Mobil Notary offers a ten percent discount for travel fees in North Hollywood, and the Next Door Lounge in Hollywood will offer fifteen percent off of food.
While the I-405 freeway will be completely shut down from the I-10 to US-101, avoid driving and support local businesses by checking out what the local communities are doing and have a great weekend in the “Eat, Shop, and Play Locally” event!
