Jack Nicholson's Home Up In Flames
Posted by Krystle Hudson on Sep 11, 2011 - 12:59:13 AM

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On Friday, September 9, a house fire broke out at the 7300 block of Woodrow Wilson near Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills area around 8 a.m. The home has been reported to be owned by actor Jack Nicholson, who hasn’t been a regular resident of the home since 1975. Meanwhile, its current occupant Bill Tynan, mentioned to firefighters that he smelled smoke within the home and managed to escape uninjured.

Two Fire Fighters Injured While On Duty

Due to the location of the home being on the side of a hill, access to putting out the fire was rather difficult. “This is a large house on a precarious slope,” said Matt Spence of the L.A. Fire Department. “It is difficult, and access is tough because of small, windy roads in that area,” added Spence.

It took firefighters almost 90 minutes to tame the fire at the former Nicholson residence. Firefighters were worried the flames from the home would spread to nearby brush but they were able to keep it under control. Two firefighters were injured while trying to put out the fire. The two injured fire fighters were taken to a nearby hospitals for possible heat-exhaustion and possibly more critical injuries. The conditions of the two are currently unknown. The cause of the house fire is still under investigation.
