HOLLYWOOD—The inaugural event ‘Date for the Cure’ Gala was held on Saturday, February 16, at the Sheraton Universal Hotel where a number of celebrities and attendees joined to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.

“Weeds” and “SNL” star Kevin Nealon hosted the red carpet event held at 333 Universal Hollywood Drive where there was food, entertainment, and dancing. The gala was dedicated to raise funds benefiting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure ( Los Angeles County), an organization that has risen over $9.2 million for community based grants to local LA County health organizations, according to its official website. The money raised is used for diagnostic services, educational programs, patient navigation and psychosocial support.

The ‘Date for the Cure’ gala started with cocktail hour at 6:00 p.m., and the doors opened at 7:00 p.m. It included musical performances by Paul McDonald and Josh Krajcik, a dance performance by Peta Murgatroyd from “Dancing with the Stars,” a fashion show by A.Che. Also in attendance were Miss Universe Olivia Culpo and Miss USA Nana Meriwether, and an auction was held to win them as dates.
