HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Police officers responded to a radio call of a man threatening residents with a machete Tuesday night, May 7.

The incident took place on the 1700 block of North Fuller Avenue.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department and a recorded video from the scene, Oliviero Bozzi, 28, was causing the disturbance and threw his machete into a ground-floor pool from his apartment’s fifth-floor balcony.

Evidently, Bozzi yelled at police to shoot him as he stood shirtless on his balcony before barricading himself inside the apartment.

As the scene unfolded, residents of the apartment building were evacuated and Hollywood Boulevard was closed between Fuller Avenue and Camino Palmero Street.

One woman told a news photographer on the scene that the man claimed to have firearms in his apartment, according to reports.

LAPD SWAT officers fired tear gas into the apartment around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday and took Bozzi into custody shortly after.

Police discovered several weapons when they searched Bozzi’s apartment.
