HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Plans are in the works to make the TCL Chinese Theatre (formally known as Grauman’s Chinese Theatre) home to one of Imax Corporations biggest screens.
According to reports, the new Imax theater will be the third largest Imax theater in North America. At 94 feet wide, the theater will seat 986 people.
The Imax theater is scheduled to open in September 2013. It will have new stadium seating installed along with an Imax sound system and digital projector.
The digital projector will eventually be replaced with a laser projector that Imax is currently developing, according to reports.
Establishing the Imax at the Chinese Theatre will allow for the theater to host many big budget action film premieres, along with screenings of other Hollywood movies and perhaps Chinese films.
