Nora Ephron Passes Away

NEW YORK—On Tuesday, June 26, screenwriter and Hollywood powerhouse Nora Ephron died. Ephron was 71 years old and had fought cancer for some time. Ephron reportedly ultimately passed away after a battle with leukemia.
Screenwriter and director Nora Ephron died on Tuesday at 71 years of age.
The movie legend, who was known for her success as a director and as a screenwriter, passed away in New York on Tuesday evening.
Ephron was known for her writing chops, having penned the scripts for such iconic films as "When Harry Met Sally," "You've Got Mail" and "Julie & Julia." She also directed and produced those movies, and more.
She was much more often behind than camera than in front of it, earning acting credit in only two films ("Husbands and Wives" and "Crimes and Misdemeanors," according to the Internet Movie Database).
Ephron was also a writer, having composed numerous essays and novels through her impressive career.
Ephron was born in New York City in 1941 and grew up in Beverly Hills.
Though the names are pronounced similarly, Ephron bore no known relation to actor Zac Efron.
