Orlando Bloom Receives Star

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—“Lord of the Rings” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” fans can rejoice. On Wednesday, April 2, Orlando Bloom will receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. According to a press release from the Walk of Fame’s website, this will be the “2,521 Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Category of Motion Pictures.” The Emcee handling the event will be the President/CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.


The event starts at 11:30 a.m. and will be located at 6927 Hollywood Boulevard, between the TCL Chinese Theatre and Madame Tussauds. For those who are unable to attend the event, or wish to view it can watch Walk of Fame’s live stream of the affair at: www.walkoffame.com.


The English born star made his film debut in “Wilde,” which starred Jude Law and Stephen Fry; but his claim to fame was his role of the Elf Prince, Legolas, in Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” in 2001.  Bloom later starred alongside Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley in “Pirates of the Caribbean” as Will Turner in 2003.


He starred with Forest Whitaker in Jerome Salle’s film “Zulu” and made waves starring opposite Condola Rashad in David Leveaux’s production of “Romeo and Juliet” as Romeo. Whitaker and Leveaux will be present at Bloom’s Walk of Fame ceremony as guest speakers.


The Star ceremony is free to attend. It is advised for attendees to bring sunscreen, wear comfortable shoes, and to stay hydrated. The event will be over by 12:15 p.m., once the event is over, the crowd viewing the event must disperse to clear the path for the rest of the community. Bringing young children to the event is not advisable, as the event can get crowded.
